Characteristics of Precision Casting

Compared with other casting methods and parts forming methods, investment casting has the following characteristics:

1. Investment casting achieves high precision of castings which can reach 4 to 6 grade, Ra 1.6 to 3.2μm, thereby greatly reducing the allowance for machining and achieving zero allowance.

2. Investment casting can produce complex castings that are difficult to be made by other process, such as impellers, hollow blades, and provide more flexibility for the product design.

3. Investment Casting can use a variety of alloy materials such as carbon steel-stellite, stainless steel and alloy steel.

4. Investment casting has high production flexibility and strong adaptability. The mold can be made from a various kinds of materials and technical processes. This makes the tool molds suitable for large-scale production, small-batch production and single-piece production. However the investment casting also has certain limitations such as complex process, long production lead-time, limit of parts size and slow casting cooling speed.

Advanced casting technologies:

1. We use advanced Solidworks to design the mold, the design can be input directly to CNC machine for mold making to guarantee the tolerance of the mold within +_0.03MM.

2. We use imported medium wax and imported hydraulic wax injection machines.

3. For shell cluster we use Pouring Basin Feeding Volumetric Method which won 2nd prize of Science & Technology Advancement in Guangdong province.

4. For shell making, we use vacuum dipping machine and bonding agents, wetting agents, crumbling agents from North America, to ensure the slurry can be well dipped into interlayer and dead corner to prevent ‘cold shot’ in the castings, and we can cast deep holes, blind holes, narrow grooves, character or dead angles etc…

5. We use micro-vibration and pressure casting (advanced technology imported from foreign countries).

6. We design the special straightening tool for thin wall and easy-deforming parts. We use pressing, knocking, clamping and other special process to achieve high precision requirements for complex parts.

7. For machining, we have advanced CNC center and CNC lathes to produce high precision parts.

8. For inspection, we have advanced test equipments such as CMM, spectrometer etc...

9. For new product development and process control, we adhere strictly to the company procedures based on ISO.
